Rassie van der Dussen doubtful for West Indies clash
South African middle order batsman Rassie van der Dussen is doubtful for the game against West Indies due to a groin injury.
South Africa led by Faf du Plessis are yet to open their account in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after hat-trick defeats in their first three games. Right from the start of the tournament, Proteas are facing many injury concerns.
Before their match against India, their star pacer Dale Steyn was ruled out of the entire tournament due to the shoulder injury and still Hashim Amla and Lungi Ngidi are having the same problems.
Now their middle order batsman Rassie van der Dussen has joined the list with a groin injury and he is doubtful for the team’s fourth match match of the tournament against West Indies.
Van der Dussen had strained his groin while fielding in Wednesday’s six-wicket loss to India. He had left the field and did not return as a precaution. According to a CSA spokesperson, Van der Dussen will be monitored at training on Saturday and Sunday to gauge the seriousness of the injury.
In case he is unavailable for the match, then Aiden Markran might be recalled into the playing XI as replacement. Missing the right-handed batsman will be a big blow for beleaguered South Africa as Van der Dussen has looked in decent touch, registering scores of 50, 41 and 22 so far.
