Rassie van der Dussen set to join Rajasthan Royals
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals are set to name South Africa’s batsman Rassie van der Dussen as a replacement for all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Stokes sustained a broken finger in their season opener against Punjab Kings and was subsequently ruled out of the entire competition.
In the Rajasthan team, van der Dussen will join compatriots Chris Morris and David Miller.
According to reports, the right-hand batsman will undergo a medical on Monday and join up with his new side immediately thereafter.
The 32-year-old has got the IPL call-up on the back of a great ODI series against Pakistan recently, where he finished as his team’s leading run-getter with 183 runs including a hundred at an average of 183 and a strike rate of 107.2.
He, however, did not play in the final ODI and the first two T20Is. In the two T20Is against Pakistan, he scored 34 not-out and 52 respectively.
Rajasthan are not in a great position in the ongoing IPL 2021 at the moment. Losing three out of their four matches so far, they are languishing at the bottom of the points table.
After losing Stokes to injury, Liam Livingstone also left the franchise, while Jofra Archer too will not play for them this season.
