Further Rahul was forced to take the keeping gloves in the first ODI as Rishabh Pant was unavailable for play due to concussion issues after getting a hit on his helmet while batting. During the match Rahul was the back up wicket-keeper and eventually he did his job really well not only in that game but also in the entire series.

Indian head coach Ravi Shastri recently said that he and Indian skipper Virat Kohli are loving the options they have in the team while talking about Rahul’s wicket-keeping. The head coach was quoted saying “We love options,” to Times of Now.

Further when talking about the injury of Shikhar Dhawan who is having injury issues frequently nowadays, Shastri said, “Very sad because he (Dhawan) is a senior player. He is a match-winner. When someone suffers an injury of that sort, everyone is hurt in the team.”

The head coach concluded with quoting that the team is desperate to end the ICC trophy drought since 2013 and their only target is to beat any opponents in any conditions. “That toss will be taken out of the equation, we will play well irrespective of conditions, of opponents and in every country of the world. That’s what our aim is and that is what we are chasing. Yes, the World Cup remains an obsession and we will do all to fulfil that ambition.”
