Rayudu won’t be fined for his cheeky tweet: BCCI official

As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-man squad for World Cup 2019, promising players were picked up with a fresh blend of youth and experience. But Ambati Rayudu exclusion from World Cup 2019 plans created a stir on social media.

The chairman of selectors MSK Prasad explained why he chose Vijay Shankar over Ambati Rayudu. He justified the selection by saying that Vijay Shankar is more of a three-dimensional option as he could bat at No.4, bowl few overs as well as field well.

It was when Ambati Rayudu showed his funny side on Twitter by coming up with a cheeky tweet as he said he plans to buy 3D glasses to watch the marquee event which begins on May 30 in the UK. People on Twitter were supporting Rayudu, adding that he won the internet with a single tweet.

Rayudu won’t be charged for his tweet: BCCI official

However, BCCI has taken note of this tweet but since it was not a direct criticism of the selection policy, the governing body wants to let it go.

“We have taken note of what Rayudu has tweeted. (But) Let’s accept that emotions are running high at this moment. There is bound to be a disappointment and there needs to be an outlet of expression as long as it’s not out of line,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on Wednesday.

“He will need some time to soak in the disappointment and it’s understandable. There is no need for sanctions. Also, he is one of our standbys. If any injury happens there is every chance, he would go,” the official said.

Ambati Rayudu might boast a healthy average but his recent failures haunted him badly. He missed out on getting a ticket for World Cup after three failures against Australia at home last month.
