RCB deny replacing Kohli’s captaincy
Royal Challengers Bangalore have clearly stated that they have not replaced Virat Kohli from the captaincy.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise RCB have dismissed the prevailing rumor of replacing AB de Villiers in place of captain Virat Kohli and stated there is no practical base of this kind of happening.
The speculations floating around under the change in team coaching personnel that the franchise is in way to place former South Africa international AB de Villiers as their new captain for the forthcoming season.
However, the three time IPL finalists have reportedly denied the talking assuring Kohli will continue as the captain of the team for the 2019 season as well.
The drastic changes in RCB coaching staff includes sacking of coach Daniel Vettori and placing India’s 2011 World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten.
Bowling coach Andrew McDonald and fielding coach Trent Woodhill had also been fired and Ashish Nehra joined in the coaching panel.
RCB has failed to click as a unit despite the presence of de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Kohli and never won the league. They did not qualify for the playoffs this season and fared even poorly in 2017 when they finished last.
Virat Kohli has been with the Royal Challengers Bangalore since the beginning of IPL.
Playing 163 matches, he has scored 4948 runs with four centuries and 34 fifties.
