RCB rope in Dale Steyn as replacement for Coulter-Nile
Just a day ago, there were widespread talks and speculations that Dale Steyn would soon be a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore after the pacer flaunted his passport on Instagram.
Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore have purchased the valuable services of South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn as the replacement for injured Nathan Coulter-Nile, who has preferred to rule himself out of the rest of the tournament with a back niggle.
The 35-year-old experienced campaigner went unsold at the mega-auction but will now be ready to play an IPL game after a two-year gap. Steyn was last seen playing in the cash-rich Premier League for Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016.
Dale Steyn will not feature in RCB’s next game
The fierce bowler will be in action for RCB’s in team’s 9th game against KKR on April 19 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
RCB is the only team that is yet to win even a single match as they lost six matches in a row in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2019. One more defeat in the next match will ruin their chances of entering the playoffs.
Now that Dale Steyn is back and his experience will surely be a key to RCB in crunch situations of the game. The experienced fast-bowler has made significant contributions in IPL so far. He has played for RCB from 2008 to 2010 where he picked 27 wickets in 28 matches and then joined now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2011.
After that, he had a good stint with SunRisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Lions in the IPL.
This is the first time that RCB recorded six straight losses and now share the same record with Delhi Daredevils in 2013. One more defeat in the next game means that they will become the first team in IPL history to lose 7 games in a row.
RCB take on Kings XI Punjab at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on April 13 (Saturday).
