Reason behind Hasan Mahmud’s inclusion in Zimbabwe Test
For the first time, young pacer Hasan Mahmud has been included in Bangladesh’s Test squad. Bangladesh pick four more pacers except Hasan Mahmud in the only Test squad against Zimbabwe.
But the main reason behind Hasan’s place in the squad is his speed. This is what Minhajul Abedin Nannu, the chief selector of the Bangladesh national team, said.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team for Zimbabwe Test on Sunday (February 16th).
He was bowling at a maximum speed of 142.4km per hour in addition to taking 13 wickets in 10 matches for Dhaka Platoon in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Minhajul Abedin Nannu also said that the speed was the reason for Hasan Mahmud’s inclusion in the squad.
“When we took him in the HP squad a year ago, then the plan was to get someone who can bowl at a maximum speed. Our bowlers lacked the ability to consistently push the ball at speeds around 140 km. We saw this talent in him. Unfortunately, he was a bit out of line. But he’s come back again. Because of that we have taken him into the system,”
The only Test will be held on February 22 next.
