The absence of Mustafizur Rahman in Bangladesh squad for the Afghanistan series has left a big question mark in front of the selection panel – who to choose now? A pacer to replace a pacer or a spinner?
After a prolong meeting with two selectors Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Habibul Bashar, BCB Cricket Operations’ Committee Chairman Akram Khan informed they have yet to decide on this ground.
“We have short listed the probable replacements. Perhaps the announcement would come after a day or two. After the team will complete their first training session over there, we will look after the condition and decided whether a pacer or spinner could be sent,” Akram Khan said.
Akram Khan admitted it was shock to lose Mustafizur in the vicinity of the competition.
“He is a very important cricketer of our team. The team’s pace strength has been curtailed due to his absence. The team depend upon his bowling in the beginning of an innings or in death overs. It’s a big shock for us to lose him in the last moment,” Akram Khan said.
Selector Habibul Bashar said there are even possibilities of not sending anyone at all as a replacement of Mustafizur Rahman.
