Rohit backs Dhoni and Kedar
After seeing India’s batting display against England, their fans were absolutely livid with the slow batting approach which failed miserably against England during the run-chase. As a result, Team India’s unbeaten streak came to an end in the 2019 Cricket World Cup on Sunday.
Fans booed because the crowd was frustrated with yet another slow approach by MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav when the team needed some firepower at the end. The two finishers are the talk of the town at the moment.
With India needing 71 runs in the last five overs, they ended up falling short by 31 runs in the end. Dhoni and Jadhav literally not going for the big shots didn’t go down well with fans and former Indian cricketers.
Indian vice captain Rohit Sharma comes in support for the two, saying they tried their level best to made it over the line. “When MS [Dhoni] and Kedar [Jadhav] were batting, they were trying their best but it was tough to score boundaries. The surface was awfully slow,” Sharma was quoted as saying.
Speaking about India’s new No. 4 in Rishabh Pant, Sharma disclosed that he wasn’t surprised to see him walking in to bat ahead of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. “You guys wanted him to play, right? You asked where is Rishabh Pant? Where is Rishabh Pant? Here he is… at No. 4,” Sharma said.
