Rohit becomes fourth most six hitter in IPL
Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma became the fourth most six hitter in the history of Indian premier League (IPL). He has entered the elite club of six hitters who surpassed 200 sixes. Rohit scored 80 off 54 balls and picked a 49-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders at Abu Dhabi.
In match five of IPL 20 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Rohit displayed three boundaries and six sixes as MI registered their first win in IPL 2020 after having lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match. With six sixes in the match, Rohit became the fourth most six hitters in IPL.
Before him, only three cricketers could surpassed that milestone. West Indian great Chris Gayle of Kings XI Punjab placed at the top of the list with a staggering 326 sixes. After him Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting monster Ab De Villiers has placed who has scored 214 sixes so far. Before him , there is CSK skipper MS Dhoni who hit 212 sixes.
Meanwhile, Rohit is a little away from amother list of elite club milestone. He needs only 10 runs to join RCB captain Kohli and CSK batsman Suresh Raina in the list of players with 5,000 or more runs in IPL.He could possibly reach the milestone in September 28 against the RCB in Dubai.
After a first match defeat against CSK, Rohit came back strongly in the next match and picked a fabulous victory against the mighty Kolkata Knight Rider’s. Meanwhile, Rohit lead from the front literally as he scored 90 runs with Suryakumar Yadav (47) for a second-wicket stand.
