Coming to the third Test match at SCG, Australia were the favourites to win the match especially after they set up a target of 407 for the visitors. The hosts had plenty of time and overs to outsmart the Indian batting line-up. However, the visitors had other ideas. Team India came up with a decisive strategy as they batted till the end of Day 5 as the SCG Test ended in a draw.

Rohit Sharma joined the Indian team after the MCG Test. The veteran had to through a mandatory 14-day isolation period and after which he was given a warm reception at the Indian camp in MCG. He took part in the third Test and scored 27 in the first innings.
Although he got out cheaply, he still created a world record. He became the first batsman to score 100 international sixes against Australia. This is quite a remarkable record. Rohit who failed to make it count in the first innings, bounced back to score a superb fifty in the second innings.
Rahane who is yet to lose a Test as captain couldn’t be happier especially the manner in which the boys showed character in the match. Pant scored a brilliant 97 whereas Pujara scored 77. Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin played defensive cricket and successfully defied the Aussie bowling attack at the SCG. The fourth and final Test match will be played at The Gabba on January 15.
