Rohit donates Rs 80 lakh to fight COVID-19 pandemic

The whole of India is united in the fight against coronavirus. The country has been in lockdown for the past six days under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Which will continue for another 15 days.

In the meantime, the cricketers of India are coming from their positions so that the helpless and the poor are not having any problems. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni have donated.

Rohit Sharma, the star opener of the national team, has been cooperated with them today (Tuesday). Rohit is donating 45 lakh rupees to the Prime Minister’s Fund, 25 Lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Fund and Rs 51 Lakh to the funds of ‘Feeding India’ and ‘The Welfare of Stray Dogs’, total amount of Rs 80 lakh Indian rupees (Tk 90 lakh in Bangladeshi currency).

He has posted the news on social media Twitter. Stating that everyone has to take responsibility for getting out of the crisis, Rohit writes,

“We need our country back on feet & the onus is on us. I’ve done my bit to donate 45lakhs to #PMCaresFunds, 25lakhs to #CMReliefFund Maharashtra, 5lakhs to @FeedingIndia and 5lakhs to #WelfareOfStrayDogs.Let’s get behind our leaders and support them  @narendramodi @CMOMaharashtra.”

Before Rohit, three former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir donated Rs 50 lakh each. Famous duo Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma contributed Rs 3 crore. Former batsman Suresh Raina gave Rs 52 lakh and Ajinkya Rahane gave Rs 10 lakh.

Not only in cricket, other sports stars have come forward. Badminton World Champion P.V. Sindhu has donated Rs 10 lakh. Wrestling star Bajrang Punia has given his six-month salary. Besides, the athletes Dutee Chand and Hima Das have also given their one-month salary.
