Rohit equals Dhoni’s record in T20Is

India’s experienced opener Rohit Sharma was not at his imperious best in the home T20I series against South Africa. He got dismissed for cheap scores in the two matches he had played for the team.

Dharmasala T20I was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. In the Mohali T20I, Rohit got dismissed for 12 runs after he was trapped for an LBW off Andre Phehlukwayo’s delivery.

In the third T20I at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Rohit once again lost the plot as he fell prey to Beuran Hendricks’ bowling, with Reeza Hendricks taking a good catch. Rohit was dismissed for 9 runs after scoring two fours.

Though, it is indeed a disappointing day for him, he has equalled MS Dhoni’s record for most T20I appearances for India.

It was Rohit Sharma’s 98th T20I game for India. Suresh Raina follows next on the list as he played 78 T20Is and India captain Virat Kohli has played 72 matches so far.

During the third and last T20I match against the visitors, Rohit Sharma broke Virat Kohli’s record to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is before being dismissed for 9. Needless to say, his record was temporary as Virat Kohli surpassed it later in the game.

India’s vice-captain, Rohit has scored 2443 runs in 90 T20Is at a pretty decent average of 32.14.

Now the entire focus shifts to the upcoming three-match Test series and Rohit Sharma will be looking forward to making his presence count on the pitch in the red-ball format.

He will be batting as an opener and the fans are curious to see him donning the Test jersey.
