Rohit reminds me of Inzamam: Yuvraj Singh
Rohit and Yuvraj are about 6 years old and small. If you count on a cricket career, the gap will be increased by one more year. However, two Indian cricketers – Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma – have eased the age gap after the start of their career.
Left-arm all-rounder Yuvraj has stepped up in international cricket in 2000. And Rohit’s start was 7 years after that, after the 2007 ODI World Cup. Later, the friendship between the two has grown considerably.
Rohit’s debut match in the Twenty20 World Cup was against England in 2007. In that match, Yuvraj struck six sixes off Stuart Broad in a over. Rohit did not get a chance to make his debut with batting because of his batting stroke.
About 13 years after that day, the first memory of seeing Rohit is revealed by Yuvraj. When he saw Rohit for the first time, he remembered the former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq. Why so, he also explained the reason.
Gaurav Kapoor, the known face of Indian cricke, has organized a quiz called ‘Isolation Premier League’ to help ease the detention time due to coronavirus. Yuvraj was the guest of the fourth episode of the program. It was there that he told his first memory about Rohit.
“I remember when he (Rohit) came in the team, he looked like he had a lot of time in his hands. Rohit was reminding me of Inzamam. Because of the time he had to bat, Inzamam also had a lot of time to deal with the bowlers.”
