Rohit Sharma becomes third highest six-hitter in ODI's
Sanath Jayasuriya's record of 270 ODI sixes was broken by Team India captain Rohit Sharma during the third game between India and New Zealand on Tuesday 24 January in Indore.
The right-hander came into play after hitting 267 sixes. In the 14th over of the game, he hit his fourth six of the innings to reach the milestone. Having surpassed MS Dhoni's previous record of 229 sixes in ODIs, Rohit is already the Indian player with the most sixes overall.
Rohit has made a name for himself as one of the most ruthless hitters in the game's history. Anything short is usually dealt with mercilessly for a six on the back of his impressive pull shot. His talent for reading length early, innate timing and power helped him become a beacon of six-hitting and a nightmare for bowlers.
During the ODI opening game against New Zealand in Hyderabad, the India captain just surpassed Dhoni's record for most sixes hit in India. He is also close to breaking the coveted mark for most sixes in international cricket. Gayle, who currently holds the top spot with 533 hits, is ahead of him.
India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma put in an outstanding performance in the one-day international match. He has slammed his 30th century in the 83-ball format, his first since January 2020.
As of this writing, Rohit hits Sharma with the help of six sixes on 86 of 66 deliveries. Team India made the most of a flat stretch at small gauge Indore after being asked by New Zealand to bat first.
