Rohit Sharma on brink of joining 400 sixes club

India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma is on the verge of reaching another milestone in his illustrious international cricket.

I tried to hit six sixes in Mosaddek's over - Rohit Sharma

Rohit, who is leading the Men in Blue in the ongoing three match series against Bangladesh in absence of regular captain Virat Kohli, is just two sixes away from joining the elite 400 sixes club.

In one day internationals, Rohit has amassed 232 sixes, while his tally of sixes in Test cricket is 51. In T20Is, the Mumbai born batsman has struck 115 sixes so far.

During an interaction with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal after the 2nd T20I match which India booked by 8 wickets, Rohit had revealed his secret behind hitting big sixes in the latest episode of Chahal TV.

He said, “When I hit three consecutive sixes, I tried to go for six maximums. But when I missed the fourth one, I decided I will take singles. You don’t need a huge body and muscles to hit big sixes.

“Even you (Chahal) can hit sixes. Power is not the only thing you need to hit sixes, you need timing as well. The ball should hit the middle of the bat and your head should be still. So, there are a number of things you need in order to hit a six,” he said.

Till now, only two batsmen have reached into this magnificent milestone. Former Pakistan batsman Shahid Afridi has 476 sixes beside his name while West Indies opener Chris Gayle has stored 534 sixes in international cricket.

India and Bangladesh will meet in Nagpur to face in the series deciding third and final T20I on November 10.
