Uncapped young pacer Abu Hider Rony, who sparkled in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) alongside the promising wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan has earned call for the forthcoming Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe, which is scheduled to begin from January 14 at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium in Sylhet.
Apart from these two young guns, Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury, who is yet to make his T20I debut, will be in the team, too. In the meantime, wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Kumar Das and all-rounder Nasir Hossain have been ruled out for the first two matches of the four-match series.
It has been learnt that the three-member national selectors team, headed by Faruk Ahmed, delivered the squad list for the first two matches of the series to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday. The list is likely to be approved by the board president on Monday. After that, BCB will officially announce the squad before media.
Though Nasir Hossain, one of Bangladesh’s senior cricketers at this point, was left out for first two matches, is still very much in contention for a spot in the 15-man squad for the World T20 to be held in India March this year. However for this time, he has been replaced by Shuvagata.
Imrul Kayes, who was part of Bangladesh’s T20I squad against Zimbabwe in November last year and also played a match, too has retained his place for the first two T20I matches after having had a great time in the BPL. Injured pacer Rubel Hossain might make way for Taskin Ahmed.
