During the season, CSK captain MS Dhoni stressed on the fact that the team management didn’t see the spark in youngsters. “Fair enough, this season we weren’t really there. Also, there were few chances for youngsters. Maybe we didn’t see the kind of spark that they could’ve given us to say okay you know push the experienced guys and make space for them,” Dhoni said during the IPL.

Meanwhile, CSK youngster Ruturaj who was one of the very few bright prospects in the tournament has replied to MS Dhoni’s comment on youngsters. As MS Dhoni’s ‘lack of spark in youngsters’ comment went viral, Ruturaj was asked about MS Dhoni’s opinion.

In reply, the youngster said: “I didn’t read much into what MS had said and I never felt he intended that way. He must have thought of something and said, but people took it the other way. What he said didn’t matter to me or didn’t even get to my head.

“At nets, he would advise me regarding my batting and on top of that, he has always liked my batting. Ruturaj also said that MS Dhoni used to tell him to focus on the process while in the nets and more so, supported him during the tough time when he contracted COVID-19 just before the IPL.

“At nets, MS used to tell me, ‘just make sure your process is right and don’t worry about the results.’ I just followed that,” the 23-year-old added while speaking to The Telegraph India.

CSK have a lot of catching up to do to get back on track in the next season. The upcoming auction will give CSK a great opportunity to revamp their squad. It will be quite interesting to see how CSK respond in the upcoming season.
