Ryan Cook given paternity leave from SL series
Bangladesh fielding coach Ryan Cook has been granted a paternity leave during the home ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The South African had applied for leave following his pregnant wife’s health complications. Bangladesh Cricket Board director Akram Khan confirmed the matter.
“Ryan Cook’s pregnant wife is suffering from complications. He needs to stay by his wife so we has to go back. We have given him the leave,” Akram said.
Bangladesh will miss the services of pace bowling coach Ottis Gibson as well. He is expected to join the team before the full series tour of Zimbabwe. Physio Julian Calefato and strength and conditioning coach Nick Lee are also on a break, but will join before Sri Lanka series.
The Tigers have begun training at Mirpur’s Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the venue for three World Cup Super League ODIs on May 23, 25 and 28. A full-scale training will resume after Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
