Sabbir ready to open innings for Dhaka

Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman will play for Beximco Dhaka in the upcoming five-team tournament Bangabandhu T20 Cup. The 29-year old cricketer wants to take himself to the top in this tournament.

At one time, Sabbir was considered as a ‘T20 specialist’. This cricketer had a very good reputation for Bangladesh at no. 3 position. Besides no. 3, Sabbir hadalso opened the innings in the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). However, the question has arisen as to where he will bat in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

Sabbir has answered the question of the journalists in which position he will prefer in the upcoming T20 Cup. But for opening slot, There’s already Naim Sheikh and Young Tanzid Hasan Tamim. However, Sabbir said he was ready to bat in any position as the team wanted.

“Wherever the team wants me to bat- open, one down or no. 6-7, I’m ready to bat at any position,” Sabbir said.

There’s many circumstances that Sabbir got out after scoring 40 or 50 or 60 in international cricket or domestic cricket, didn’t able to make the innings big. But Sabbir realized that if he has to go to the top, he will have to make the innings longer.

“Definitely I have to take it one more level. In domestic cricket, I was dismissed for 30-40 or 60-70. Maybe if I score a century here, my level will increase,” he said.
