Sabbir sees no problem with fielding first

The first day at Potchefstoom didn’t go well for Bangladesh and they need themselves to blame as they elected to bowl first in a flat track. But middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman sees no problem with this decision.

After the end of the first day, Sabbir said in the press conference: “You have come to play in South Africa. Obviously you will decide to field first after winning the toss. Any captain will take this decision. Nothing to say more. We chose to bowl first obviously for doing something. After 1-2 hours we realized its a flat wicket. Then we tried our best to keep the run-rate low.”

When asked how much runs South Africa will end up scoring he thinks, Sabbir said: “If they bat for 3 days, you can’t say how much runs they will score. It can be 1000 runs, it can be 700 too. We will try our best to not let them score big.”

He added: “If we don’t bowl well, then they even might bat for 5 days. We have to bowl in a way that we can get wickets. We have to bowl in good areas. It will be good for us if we not let them score easily.”

Lastly, Sabbir said about their target for day two: “Our main target will be to stop them from scoring runs easily. This is our only target tomorrow.”
