Sachin Tendulkar gives Rashid Khan a valuable tip for the World Cup
The “God Of Cricket”, also known as Sachin Tendulkar picked three players to watch out for in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, namely Australian opener David Warner, English speed star Jofra Archer and the Afghan superstar Rashid Khan.
The Indian batting legend made his commentary debut during the inaugural match of the mega tournament between England and South Africa. He was pretty excited about his new innings as a commentator as he compared it to his cricketing debut back in 1989. “I know, I am having the same feeling I had in Pakistan in 1989. Now it’s 2019, I am having the same feeling. 30 years down the line. I have a microphone in hand, not a cricket bat. Looking forward to it,” termed by the Master himself.
On talking about Rashid Khan, he mentioned that Rashid can be the X-factor for the Afghan unit who can leave a great impact on any opposition. The Master Blaster suggested the young Afghan boy to treat the ’50 Over Format’ game like the longest format, i.e. test matches by applying attacking field setting technique. He stated, “I think he’s [Rashid] going to be instrumental in creating those upsets in this tournament. If I have to tell him something, I would say, ‘Look, treat this like a Test match.”
“Because even in the T20 format, you’ve been able to pick wickets because the batters have not read what you’ve done with your wrist. And you do that, back yourself, have an attacking field, and challenge batters to hit over mid-on and mid-off,” he added. Tendulkar also advised the wrist spinner to challenge the opposition batsmen and he will not disappoint the Afghan fans.
This is not the first time that Sachin is in all praise for the young Afghan lad. During the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League, he tweeted about Rashid terming him as the best spin bowler in recent times.
So, time will tell how the Afghan sensation will apply himself into the game as the tournament will progress with the course of time.
