The Bangladesh cricketers have been preparing for the Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Limited overs all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been seen there.
The first of a two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka starts tomorrow. Naturally, the team is supposed to have practice today. The rest of the players are expected to be in good spirits as Shakib Al Hasan has joined the team after being Covid negative.
Saifuddin came as a surprise in the practice of Tigers. The pace all-rounder has been out of the national team for a long 10 months. Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has said that the squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies will be announced soon.
The tour includes ODI and T20 series. Saifuddin also did well in Dhaka Premier League (DPL) with bat and ball. So, he’ll get a chance on the West Indies tour maybe. That is why Saifuddin has joined the practice with the Test team.
He has been called up to practice with the Test team so that there is no lack of preparation, even if he is included in the West Indies squad for the tour.
On the other hand, Shakib has batted in practice. Saifuddin bowled him in the net. Six cricketers have been rested even though everyone on the team was supposed to practice a day before the main fight. They are- Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, and Yasir Ali.
It has been decided to rest these six cricketers as there was optional practice on the day before the match.
