Saini joins Indian team as net bowler
Indian domestic right arm fast bowler Navdeep Saini has joined with the Indian team in England as a net bowler for them in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
India are on a positive vibe with their performances so far in the World Cup. But the biggest headache for them is injury issues. Already their opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan is ruled out of the tournament due to the thumb injury.
Indian right arm fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also out of action for some days due to the hamstring injury he sustained during the Pakistan clash. But the latest update on his injury is that he is recovering very well and he is expected to take field very soon.
In the meantime, Indian domestic fast bowler Navdeep Saini has joined the team as a net bowler. Saini was named as one of the five standbys for the World Cup when the team was announced on April 15. Those not in the standbys list went to England as net bowlers.
After Bhuvneshwar’s injury, the Indian team management had claimed his bowling would be assessed in eight days and the team was a quality bowler short in the nets as Khaleel Ahmed had been released on June 16 for India ‘A’ duty. It is learned that Bhuvneshwar had complained of discomfort while climbing stairs in Southampton a couple of days back. Team sources claimed Bhuvneshwar should be fine in another week.
In case that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is ruled out of the tournament due to the injury, Navdeep Saini is expected to be the replacement for him. Already a standby player Rishabh Pant has come in as a replacement for Shikhar Dhawan.
