Salahuddin comes to Mominul-Tamim’s aid
Things are not going well for Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque and the opener Tamim Iqbal. And so Mohammad Salahuddin has come to their rescue.
Mominul’s bad batch continues and for the first time his average has dropped down below 40. Tamim too failed in the first Test against Pakistan to capitalize on the momentum he had earned by scoring triple ton in the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).
And as before, they have once again came back to seek help from their coach Mohammad Salahuddin, who they think can drag them out of the misery.
As Salahuddin is considered as the last resort to these cricketers, he arrived in Mirpur on Saturday despite being ill. Then he worked with Mominul and Tamim for almost three hours.
First Salahuddin gave instructions to Tamim as to how he could bat more effectively in the longest version of the game, and also corrected several shots. Once done with Tamim, Salahuddin also had some advises for the Test captain Mominul.
Salahuddin held a brief discussion with the Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo as well, regarding Mominul and Tamim’s batting.
Other than Mominul and Tamim, Mohammad Mithun also worked a while with Salahuddin. On the other hand, Al-Amin Hossain worked with Otis Gibson.
Bangladesh will start their practice for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe from February 18. So basically this special practice session was an optional one for the Bangladesh batsmen, but proves how determined they are to come back to form.
Mominul and Tamim will work with Salahuddin again on February 16 and 17.
