Sammy available for Punjab’s game against Hyderabad
Darren Sammy has joined the Kings XI Punjab squad at Mohali. The 33-year old all-rounder was bought for INR 30 lakh in Indian Premier League auctions held in February 2017 but hasn’t been with the team in India until now.
Darren Sammy was seen training with the Punjab team at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali. The flamboyant West Indian took to Twitter and posted a video of the fun times they were having during his nets session. Till now, Sammy has played a total of 22 games in IPL in which he has scored 295 runs and has taken 11 wickets. Previously, he has been part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise as well.
Kings XI Punjab are placed fifth on the table with six points, and have already played half of their matches this season. With seven more matches to go in the league stage, the Glenn Maxwell-led side is set to be all the more stronger, thanks to the slower-ball skills and the big hitting abilities that Sammy brings to the side.
Kings XI Punjab would want Darren to add value to their team in the upcoming matches and lift their prospects. A T20 specialist, Darren had led West Indies to the 2016 World T20 title triumph with his inspiring captaincy.
A veteran of 242 T20 matches, Sammy has represented an array of teams across the globe. He has scored 2927 runs at an average of 20.61 and picked up 154 wickets at an economy rate of 7.85.
