Sania Mirza reacts to India vs Pakistan TV ads
The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 saw some mouth-watering clashes between the teams from the word go but the highly-anticipated sporting carnival between India and Pakistan is yet to be played. The intriguing fixture is scheduled on June 16, where India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
As the match is just days away from the craze, the broadcasters of the respective nations are busy promoting the battle their respective platforms.
Recently, Pakistan TV released an advertisement, mocking Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. In the 33-second clip, a character impersonating Abhinandan was depicted wearing the Indian jersey.
On the contrary, Star Sports, the official broadcaster in India also aired a promotional video for the match around the Father’s Day theme. The short clip mixed their famous ‘Mauka Mauka’ campaign with Father’s Day for promoting the match.
It seems that India’s Tennis star Sania Mirza was not at all pleased with what she has seen so far from both the broadcasters of India and Pakistan. Sania Mirza launched a scathing attack on the broadcaster of both the nations as she took it to Twitter and addressed the advertisements as ‘cringeworthy’.
“Cringeworthy ads on both sides of the border. Seriously, guys, you don’t need to ‘hype up’ or market the match anymore specially with rubbish! it has ENOUGH attention already! It’s only cricket for God sake, and if you think it’s anymore than that then get a grip or get a life!!” Sania tweeted.
