Sanjay Manjrekar compares Virat Kohli with Imran Khan
Former India batsman and popular commentator Sanjay Manjrekar says that India under Virat Kohli reminds him of the Pakistan under Imran Khan.
The legendary spinner Abdul Qadir also found similarities between the Virat-led India team and the Imran-led Pakistan team.
India had successfully accomplished a historic feat. They had won five games in a row in the shorter format and whitewashed New Zealand for the first time in T20I history.
Manjrekar had been pleased to see such dominant Indian team. He compared Kohli with World Cup winning captain Imran Khan. In his words, Pakistani legend used to import new techniques in any field in the world, in his own time. He was successful most of the times. Kohli-led India also saw same success in this strategy.
According to Manjrekar, each of the World Cup winning Pakistan cricketers had strong confidence in 1992. Among them there was a motto ‘we can’. Imran had put everything into the team. Kohli had been able to import the same mentality to each member in the current Indian camp.
Team India had beaten New Zealand in the T20I series on their own ground. For this, Pakistan’s legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir and legendary pacer Shoaib Akhtar praised Kohli’s captaincy much. Qadir had been also seeing the shadow of Imran Khan in Kohli.
