Shafiul added to squad for Sri Lanka series

Bangladesh’s seam bowler Shafiul Islam has been added to the squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The day Bangladesh won their practice match comfortably, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that they have added Shafiul Islam to the squad.

There was initially a 14-man squad was announced, but the arrival of Shafiul makes it 15 now and he will travel to Colombo tomorrow and join the team.

The call might have come due to Taskin Ahmed’s poor show in the practice match. He picked up only one wicket and conceded 57 runs in 8 overs. However, Shafiul has often been called up in the squad in the recent past, but couldn’t get a game in the series in the end.

SQUAD: Tamim Iqbal (c), Farhad Reza, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim, Rubel Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Mithun, Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Shafiu Islam.
