Shahadat set to debut for Abahani on May 24
Local giants Abahani Limited are struggling in the ongoing Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) powered by Marcel. With only three wins in seven matches, they are languishing at the 9th spot on the points table.
Such critical is their present situation that Abahani find themselves in a must-win situation in all of their remaining matches in the league.
However, other than having found any point of relief, Abahani’s problem compounded even more as Taskin Ahmed is low in confidence while Abul Hasan lost his form just when it mattered. They had an option in experienced Tapash Baishya, but injury ruled him out of the league.
Having no other choice, Abahani recently signed Shahadat Hossain Rajib after the Bangladesh Cricket Board lifted his ban. Shahadat could make his debut for the club against Gazi Group on May 24 should he passes an impending fitness test.
It has been learnt from the close source that pacer Shahadat got the nod from team’s physio to play the games. Now it is just matter of time for him to make an on-field return on Tuesday against Gazi Group Cricketers.
“I’m regularly practicing to be fit for games. Now I’m fully prepared for the games. If I get chance to play I’ll try to give my best for the team,” said an optimistic Shahadat.
