Shahriar Nafees hopes to be reconsidered for national team
Having veteran Abdur Razzak in the national line up after almost four and half years, Bangladesh national selectors’ panel rewind the appraisal of well showcased performance in the domestic cricket. Hence other discarded national team cricketers who have been in good shape in the domestic leagues are expecting to be judged accordingly with the time.
30 year old opener Shahriar Nafees delivered positive ray about his performance and expressed eagerness to be considered for the national team once again.
He said, “I believe that, we, senior cricketers, have no lacking in performance. I’m trying to keep myself fit and perform in domestic cricket. We are always ready to serve the team however it needs be.”
“Everything now depends on selectors. Under the former head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, we watched Bangladesh performed well in last several years but he was not willing to bring changes in the team. My task is to keep performing and scoring runs,” he said further.
Shahriar Nafees believes senior cricketers must be given opportunities to serve the team in order to enhance the level of a team in international cricket.
“For a young talent who get admired in performing in the under-19 level, needs at least five to six years more to get matured in international level. The maturity comes at around 30 years of age and this is the reason why we are now performing well in domestic level. If all the time, the team is young, it would be hard to find positive results all in a while,” Nafees reckoned.
