Shakib Al Hasan’s injury is not serious, states BCB

Bangladesh cricket authorities, on Wednesday, stated the side strain of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is nothing of a serious issue.

The 32-year old was retired hurt scoring a 51 ball 50 against Ireland in the last league match of the Tri-nation series.

“He did not sustain any serious injury as far as we are concerned,”

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We did not want to take any risk with him so we opted to bring him back but we are confident that he will be fine soon,” he said.

Chasing quite a big total, Bangladesh beat Ireland by six wickets reaching to the final of the competition.

While replying to the total of 293 runs, Shakib came to bat in 17th over after opener Tamim Iqbal lost his wicket scoring 57 runs off 53 balls.

He was, in fact, batted much fluently from the beginning. But during the drinks break after 32nd over, Shakib appeared to have felt some inconvenience. And the main blow came in the 36th over of the match. Shakib felt really discomfort and lied down because of pain.

Physio Thihan Chandramohan came to the field instantly and after some stretching Shakib came back to his feet again to continue his innings.

But after facing five more deliveries in that over, Shakib left the field with serious discomfort. Later, it was informed that he decided to leave the field for a precautionary measure ahead of the World Cup.

Shakib picked up his 42nd half-century in ODI before leaving the field.
