Bangladesh’s superstar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has stated Bangladesh as ‘unbeatable’ at home as the Tigers have changed a lot in few years. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ ‘ঘরের মাটিতে অপরাজেয় দল বাংলাদেশ’]
Shakib believes that the change of mindset among the players has helped the team to be confident of winning against big teams.
“Previously the mindset was to draw against big teams – try to play five days, make a draw,” he told The Guardian during CPL 2017.
“But we never used to get the result. Then we started thinking, ‘Let’s try to win – let’s try to play and win the game’. It’s the mindset that changed, and that made us believe that we can win.”
When Shakib made his debut for Bangladesh, the Tigers weren’t that much strong which they are currently. Bangladesh defeated England for the first time last year in Dhaka and then completed a memorable victory over Sri Lanka in their 100th Test in Colombo this year.
The No. 1 all-rounder told that the self-belief has made the Tigers feel unbeatable at home.
“It’s been a long journey. It’s been incredible. I don’t think many people thought – even in Bangladesh – that we can come this far,” he said.
“We knew that we have this ability, and we needed that belief, and we can only get this belief by winning matches.
“But there is no shortage of self-belief at this moment … Now we feel that we are very much unbeatable at home – doesn’t matter who we are playing against.
“So this is the belief that makes a team a very good team, and a winning team,” he added.
Bangladesh will play two Test matches against Australia with the first Test starting from August 27 in Dhaka.
