Shakib is set to be snubbed off from BCB’s contract
Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is going to face an another massive blow as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expected to exclude him from central contract after he had been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for two years for upholding match-fixing offer.
Shakib is one of the top grade contracting cricketers of BCB. As a contracted cricketer, he received a maximum salary of Rs 4 lakh a month from BCB. There is no doubt that Shakib’s contract with BCB is going to canceled.
“It must be canceled. According to the rules, it is expected to be canceled from October 29. However, the board has not yet made a decision as to the matter. So I can’t say that it was canceled right now,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.
While, Akram Khan, Chairman of BCB’s operations committee, said: “The rules suggest that BCB’s agreement with Shakib is no longer in place. The number of cricketers contracted with the BCB is now 18. BCB’s contract with the players ends in December. A new contract will be signed with the cricketers in January next year. The new contract will certainly have a name omitted. And that is Shakib Al Hasan.”
For instance, the 32-year old Shakib Al Hasan on Tuesday had been handed a ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for at least till October 29, 2020 for failing to report three corrupt approaches.
The ban is for two years of which the last 12 months is a suspended sentence that would come into effect if Shakib will fail to comply with the rules of the anti-corruption codes of the sport’s governing body.
