Shakib Al Hasan has completed landmark of 10000 runs in international cricket. He is the second Bangladeshi to achieve it. He reached the landmark on his way to 67 against Sri Lanka in the third match of tri-series in Mirpur.
Shakib needed only 66 runs before the much to complete 10000 runs. He scored 67 runs off 63 balls hitting 7 fours against the Lankans.
The maverick all-rounder came into the crease when Bangladesh lost Anamul Haque. Shakib reached his 36th fifty in 50 balls. It was his first half-century at number three.
Shakib has now 10001 runs in 294 matches including 12 hundreds and 64 half-centuries. Before him, Tamim Iqbal was the only Bangladeshi with 10000 international runs. Now Tamim has over 11000 runs. He also achieved the milestone in this match.
Shakib also has nearly 500 wickets in international cricket. He is only the fourth player to have 10000 runs and 400 wickets across formats. Jacques Kallis, Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi also have this double.
