“The existing support staff will remain as it is. We will still be looking for a permanent coach during this time. But for this series, Sujon, who has been working as a manager and an inter-link between the board and the players, is given a designation,” said BCB president.

“I think Shakib and Mashrafe will act as coaches. A lot of it will depend on the senior players; they are confident that they can take up the challenge. Richard Halsall will be in charge of coaching.”

Sujon has been given technical director’s role. He has been leading the camp with 32-member squad from December 27. Halsall, fast bowling coach Courtney Walsh and spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi have not yet joined Bangladesh camp.

According to ESPNcricinfo, BCB were in talks with Andy Flower, Justin Langer, Tom Moody, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. But all five rejected. Richard Halsall, former Bangladesh head coach, and former West Indies coach Phil Simmons gave interviews to BCB. Of them, Simmons has already been appointed as Afghanistan’s coach.

BCB are still in search of a new head coach after the post was left empty with Chandika Hathurusingha’s resignation.
