Shakib, Mustafizur waiting for confirmation to fly back home today
Bangladesh cricketers- Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman have been returning home today from India, a source close to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed to BDCricTime.
However, The IPL-bound duo are waiting for the green signal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the last minute. If all goes well, they will fly directly from Delhi to Dhaka in afternoon or evening today.
Shakib, who’s in Ahmedabad with his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has already arrived in Delhi for the flight while Mustafizur is already there as his team Rajasthan Royals (RR) had been there for some times to play IPL matches.
The whole matter has been under supervision of BCB and The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Shakib and Mustafizur will remain under two-week isolation at five-star hotel Radisson Blu Water Garden or Pan Pacific Sonargaon. After that, they will train with the team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka which is scheduled to start from May 23.
It should be mentioned that Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 had been suspended indefinitely considering the COVID-19 outbreak inside the bio-bubbles of the franchises on Tuesday.
That’s why every franchise of IPL is arranging chartered flights to send their IPL-bound foreign players back home. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance owned- Mumbai Indians (MI) are arranging multiple chartered flights to send back their players home. Not only that, they are believed to have offered players from other franchises join them.
