Shakib opens up on New Zealand tour
An update on Shakib Al Hasan’s participation in New Zealand series in March is yet to be known.
Reports say Shakib might miss the New Zealand tour to stay beside his wife as the couple awaits birth of their third child.
Shakib, who returned to international cricket as the player of the match in West Indies ODIs, says the matter will be known after the Test series.
“Look, this will be better understood after the Test series. These are inside informations. I don’t even know how these come out [to public]. It will be clear after a meeting between me and the team management happens,” the all-rounder said after the third ODI in Chattogram.
Shakib scored 113 runs and bagged 6 wickets in the three-match series, that includes a sensational 4/8 in the first ODI and a fiffy in the third. Before this series, his previous ODI appearance was in the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
Bangladesh will meet West Indies for two Tests, starting from February 4. The home side will have eyes on their main man Shakib as he succumbed a groin injury in the final ODI.
Bangladesh will make their third tour to New Zealand in five years to play three ODIs and T20Is each. The ODI series will be crucial as it holds World Cup Super League points.
