Shakib Al Hasan opted himself out of Test cricket for six months, which meant he pulled himself out of South Africa Tests as well. Tigers skipper Mushfiqur Rahim has once again mentioned that Shakib will be missed.
Shakib will be available for the ODIs and T20Is, but his absence will certainly put gaps in Bangladesh line-up. Mushfiqur feels it will be a big test to replace Shakib but hopes the ace all-rounder returns strongly.
“A player of Shakib’s caliber, everyone is going to miss him. And definitely we don’t have another player like him, to replace him will be a big test for us. As I said there is opportunity for other guys to seize the opportunity and show their guts and if they can do that for us it will be great for the team and for Bangladesh cricket,” Mushfiqur said on Shakib.
“He’s been playing a lot of cricket. He’s been representing our country and he has also been playing in the T20 franchises overseas. He has been a great ambassador for Bangladesh, playing overseas, and also I think for that Bangladesh cricket will be known in other parts of the world. So I think he is doing a great job and the BCB also decided to give him a break. And after the break hopefully he will return fresh and do the same job he has done in the last 10 years,” he added.
Shakib was part of Bangladesh team in 2008 South Africa tour. He took eleven wickets in that series including two five-wicket hauls.
