Shakib returns to the country
Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had returned to USA last month after his individual practice was cancelled due to the postponement of Sri Lanka tour. But serving ICC’s 1-year ban, he has again arrived Bangladesh. This time, Shakib will start preparing for Bangabandhu Cup T20.
But before this, Shakib will have to undergo under coronavirus test. The flight carrying Shakib landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the early hours of Friday (November 6). Although Shakib has returned to the country, his wife and children are still in the United States. However, his mother Shirin Akhter has returned to Bangladesh with Shakib.
After a few days of rest and practice, Shakib will take part in the five-team tournament Bangabandhu T20 Cup, where the country’s top cricketers will play. Shakib will return to competitive cricket with this tournament.
Preparations for the tournament will be started at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Shakib has not been able to enjoy any benefits from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the past one year due to the ban. But now there is no obstacle for Shakib to use the cricket infrastructure. The ICC ban on Shakib ended on October 28. The top all-rounder in the ODI rankings is now permitted to take part in all kinds of cricket activities.
The national team is not busy at the moment. So Shakib will return to the field with domestic cricket. The cricketers have been called for a fitness test for Bangabandhu T20 Cup in which Shakib is also included. From the third week of November, the corporate league may take the field, or the schedule may be postponed for few days.
