Shakib takes India flight to play IPL
Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has left the country to take part in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This time he will play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Shakib flew from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to Kolkata on a US Bangla Airlines flight at 9.45 am on Saturday (March 27). He will go there and join the team after completing the quarantine formality.
Kolkata signed Shakib for Rs 3.2cr in the IPL auction on February 18. They have already begun quarantine in Mumbai ahead of their training camp for IPL 2021 in Kolkata. The likes of former skipper Dinesh Karthik, arun Chakravarthy, Rahul Tripathi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, West Indies duo- Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have already started their quarantine period.
Shakib will join with them and the captain of KKR Eoin Morgan who is currently in Pune on his national duty against India will likely to join the team next week.
This year, IPL is scheduled to take place in April 9 and Kolkata will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11 in Chennai.
