Akram Khan, chairman of the cricket operations department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has confirmed that they have increased the time of NOC (No-objection certificate) of Shakib Al Hasan to say in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and once Shakib’s matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) end, he can join with the national team.
Bangladesh team are currently preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup. They’re also in UAE and about to play two official warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland on October 12 and October 14. So, it’s clear that Shakib will miss the match against Sri Lanka and there’s also uncertainty about his participation in the Ireland match as Shakib’s next match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday (October 13) in the second qualifier of IPL.
“The more matches the players play before the World Cup, the better. And the T20 format is very short, three-hour game. I think it will be very good for him and the team,” Akram Khan said.
“It’s good for us that he's playing. He will join the Bangladesh team whenever his game is over. We are not worried about Shakib and Mustafizur,” he added.
Mustafizur Rahman, however, has already joined the team after Rajasthan Royals (RR) didn’t able to qualify for playoffs and has started training.
