Shakib to return with Sri Lanka tour
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking at the possibilities of the the Sri Lanka tour to overcome the pandemic obstacle. Shakib Al Hasan can also return to the Tigers squad with this tour. At least such is the plan of the BCB itself. If Shakib is fit, he will be able to join the team in Sri Lanka tour.
Several series of Bangladesh team have been postponed due to Corona. Bangladesh was scheduled to play three Tests against Sri Lanka in July. This series has also received a suspension order. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is desperate to resume the tour, which was postponed due to worrying situation in Sri Lanka.
Regular discussions are also underway with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for that purpose. It has been heard in the cricket field that the return of the Bangladesh team to the field with the tour of Sri Lanka has become a kind of final, now the rest is just an official announcement. If all goes well, Bangladesh will visit Sri Lanka in mid-October.
However, due to Corona, there is no chance to start the game after reaching somewhere. Quarantine must be obeyed. Then there is the practice episode. All in all, November against the Sri Lankans. Shakib, who was banned for hiding a gambler’s match-fixing offer, will be sentenced on October 29. There is no obstacle to enter the field in November.
And so BCB is hoping to get Shakib in Sri Lanka tour. A report in the daily Samakal quoted BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan as saying. In that case, Shakib will take the field in the next first series, that is, in the series of Bangladesh team’s return to cricket!
