Shami summoned by Kolkata police

Mohammed Shami, the Delhi Daredevils pacer, hasn’t left for Bengaluru with his team for their next match as he has been summoned to meet the Kolkata Police on Wednesday in relation to the charges of domestic violence and infidelity made against him by his wife.

BCCI to investigate 'anti-corruption' allegations against Shami!The 28-year-old pacer has received a notice from the Police and is likely to meet them before travelling to Bengaluru ahead of Daredevils’ IPL encounter on Saturday.

Shami, who plays domestic cricket for Bengal, visited Kolkata for the first time since his wife – Hasin Jahan – accused him of mental torture and resorting to domestic violence, apart from alleging that he was involved in extra-marital affairs. She filed a complaint closely on the heels of making the accusations through a social media platform.

Although Shami denied all the allegations, Jahan filed a written complaint and a First Information Report was lodged against the cricketer and four of his family members.

Apart from filing a case under the Domestic Abuse Act, she also filed a petition seeking a monthly maintenance of INR. 10 lakh for her and her daughter.

She had also claimed that Shami had allegedly collected money from a British national, Mohammed bhai, sent through a Pakistani woman.

Following her accusations, the BCCI had withheld Shami’s name from the list of contracted players before awarding him a Grade B annual contract after investigations from the Anti Corruption Unit cleared him.
