Sri Lanka are gearing up for the upcoming tour against West Indies. There Sri Lanka will play three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. The tour has turned out to be a more complex one for Sri Lanka Cricket.

The 20-member squad for the limited-overs fixtures against West Indies left for Antigua from Colombo last night. Just a few hours before the departure a COVID-19 positive case is found in the Sri Lankan squad. Then came the news of Chaminda Vaas stepping down as the fast bowling coach of Sri Lanka. As stated the former cricketer didn’t travel with the touring squad.

Now another shocking news received from the Sri Lanka Cricket as the newly named T20I captain Dasun Chanaka didn’t travel with the touring squad last night. It is reported that the T20I captain lost his passport at the time of departure.

“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform that Dasun Shanaka, who was named in the ‘White Ball Squad’ to tour West Indies, did not travel along with the Team due to an issue related to securing his Visa,” Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.

“Shanaka confronted this issue pursuant to the loss of his passport, which had a valid visa for the USA stamped on it. Sri Lanka Cricket is working closely with the relevant authorities to get the visa issue of Shanaka sorted, quickly as possible. He is expected to join the team once the issue is resolved.”
