Under-19 cricketer Nazmul Hossain Shanto made his way through Test debut this year through performing well in the age group level. Leading Bangladesh ‘A’ team now, Shanto said he is no hurry to be a part of the national team now rather wants to concentrate upon his performance with the bat in ‘A’ team.
When he was asked about the experience of captaincy, Nazmul Hossain Shanto said, “After all, it is good. In fact I was bit excited when I heard the news of being appointed as the captain of the High Performance squad to lead in England. Now I’m leading the ‘A’ team as well. I’m accustomed now and enjoying captaincy.”
Talking about the painstaking win in the second one day against Ireland ‘A’, Shanto said chasing 195 runs would not be so difficult if batsmen were more responsible.
“The Irish team is not that minnows, I think. They have some experienced cricketers in the team. Tanvir Haider played wonderfully well to bring a nice victory for us in the end,” Shanto.
Providing full concentration in his current position, Nazmul Hossain Shanto said he has no thought of national team at this moment.
“To be honest, I’m not thinking about the national team at all. I don’t even like to think about it. My responsibility is to perform well wherever I’m in because I know if I can do my duty properly, opportunities will come one day. There is no need of advance thinking,” he said.
“If I start to think my future, it might influence my present performance. Apart from that I have many contenders for my position. I think the way if someone would score a hundred, I have to score 150 to cross him to secure my position,” Shanto added.
