Shanto makes big jump in Test rankings; Tamim, Mominul also make gains
The latest ICC Test Rankings saw Bangladesh top-order batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto jumping up 21 places to claim the 115th spot. Besides, Tamim Iqbal and captain Mominul Haque have also jumped up in the batsmen’s rankings.
Shanto smashed a fantastic career best 163-run innings off 378 balls with 17 fours and 1 six in the first innings of first Test against Sri Lanka some days ago has gained his career best ranking. Mominul, who has scored the 11th century of his career and first away hundred, is jointly in the 31st position from the 36th position. Tamim has also made gains in the rankings, he is in the 30th place.
Captain Dimuth Karunaratne also made a huge jump among the Lankans. After scoring the first double-hundred of his career, he has risen to the 15th position which is best of his career, jumped up 7 places. All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, who gave him proper support, has risen to the 28th position.
Among the bowlers, Sri Lankan fast bowler Vishwa Fernando, who registered four wickets for 96 runs in the same match in first innings, jumped up to the 43th slot from 50 after his impressive bowling spells against Bangladesh.
Kane Williamson, Pat Cummins and Jason Holder stand at no. 1 in the ICC Test Batsman Rankings, ICC Test Bowler Rankings and ICC Test All-rounder Rankings.
