Shanto stars as Sylhet beat Barishal in final-ball thriller

Sylhet Strikers have won the battle between the top two teams in the points table on Tuesday (January 24) in Mirpur. Batting earlier, Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 89 runs and Sylhet collected 173 runs. In reply, Barisal stopped at 171 runs. Sylhet won by only 2 runs and kept the first position in the points table.
Sylhet lost the toss and went to bat first. Mohammad Wasim’s first over (Sylhet’s second over) was a nightmare for the batters of Sylhet. Three batters were dismissed in one over. Zakir Hasan (bowled), Towhid Hridoy (caught), Mushfiqur Rahim (lbw) departed in that over. Sylhet were in danger after losing three wickets for 15 runs in two overs.

Then he slowed down and was dismissed for 21 runs from 12 balls. Mahmudullah Riyad was dismissed by Mohammad Amir in the next over. Riyad scored 7 runs off 4 balls.
Barishal needed 15 runs in the last over to win. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were at the crease. Barishal were restricted just two runs away from Sylhet’s score. Shakib's team collected 171 runs. As a result, Mashrafe's Sylhet won by two runs. Raja took three wickets while Amir and Sakib got two wickets each for Sylhet.
