Coming with a impetus after beating Pakistan in the first game, Bangladesh thrashed USA by 269 runs in the latter's maiden ODI at the Sunrise Sports Club, Harare. The win is Bangladesh's biggest in terms of runs after they posted a record total of 322/5, going past their previous ODI high of 211/9.
Opener Sharmin provided the women in green a flying start with her partner Murshida Khatun after USA chose to bowl first. The duo put on 96 runs in 16.1 overs as the message was clear from the word go.
While Murshida fell shy of a fifty making 56-ball 47, Sharmin made history scoring a 118-ball hundred. She batted till the end, hammering unbeaten 130 in 141 deliveries with the help of 11 fours.
Skipper Nigar Sultana, who was in at three, sped up the rate scoring 33 off 26. Fargana Hoque struck 137-run third-wicket stand with the centurion Sharmin as she contributed brisk 67 off 62 from her side.
USA did not have much of a say in the run chase having being bundled out for only 53 runs inside 31 overs. Salma Khatun bowled 10 overs with five maidens, picking up two for 10.
The win puts Bangladesh on top of the Group B ladder. Pakistan escaped a Thailand scare after they were rattled for only 145. Their bowlers fought back to restrict Thailand to 93.
