Shoaib appointed PCB brand ambassador

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been appointed to two key posts – advisor to the chairman on cricket affairs and the PCB brand ambassador – chairman Najam Sethi announced on Twitter.

Akhtar’s job description and scope is currently unclear, but it appears that the relationship between Akhtar and Sethi has improved significantly. Akhtar announced on Twitter that he “was honoured to be chosen by the PCB”.

Akhtar, who made his debut in 1997, played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20 Internationals – taking a total of 444 wickets. He was the first bowler to break the 100 mph barrier, which he did twice between 1997-201

Throughout his career, Akhtar was involved in several controversies, often accused of not being a team player, but was also praised for being an impactful bowler. He retired from international cricket after the 2011 World Cup.
